Two Parliament staffers to be charged for sexual assault
A formal inquiry has been initiated under the supervision of Parliament’s Assistant Secretary General Hansa Abeyratne, regarding the alleged sexual harassment of certain employees of the Housekeeping Department in Parliament.
This investigation has been initiated on the notification of Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera and the preliminary investigation report conducted regarding this incident has been handed over to the Secretary General.
The two officers who were suspended for the alleged incident of sexual harassment are to be charged and after that the concerned officers have to submit their replies.
The preliminary investigations into the incident were conducted by a three-member team headed by Administration Director Ms. Thachchanarani.
The Assistant Housekeeper and two officials of the parliamentary housekeeping department were suspended from work earlier.
