Two officers who were in charge of Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) warehouses have been suspended following the disappearance of paddy stocks from warehouses in Kurunegala. PMB Chairman Buddhika Iddamalgoda said around 700,000 kilos of paddy were missing from the warehouses that the two officials were in charge of.
The Polgahawela warehouse is also due to inspected today (31), based on a complaint received by the Sri Lanka Police.
Iddamalgoda said two complaints were submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the incidents.
He added that the investigation report related to the disappearance of paddy stocks from the Kurunegala warehouses is to be handed over to Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera today (31).
