Two prison officers held in Angunukolapelessa

Two prison officers were arrested near the main gate of the Angunukolapelessa prison while trying to smuggle hash drugs, cigarettes, beedis and a mobile phone into the prison.

In a special search conducted by the Police Special Task Force, the Army and the police arrested a vocational instructor and a prison guard.

The prison guard entered the prison along with the instructor.When they were body searched, 110 milligrams of hash drug, two beedi and a cigarette were seized from the instructor.

A suspicious small mobile phone was seized from the prison guard.

The two arrested suspect prison officers were handed over to the Angunukolapalassa prison for further investigations and after the initial police investigations conducted by the Angunukolapalassa Police on December 21, the two suspects were to be presented to the Angunukolapalassa Magistrate.
