Two shot in Minuwangoda over extortion payments

The uncle of the underworld kingpin named Heenatiyana Mahesh, who is in Dubai and one of his associates were shot with a T56 weapon in Minuwangoda on Saturday evening.

The two people who were traveling on a motorcycle were shot by a person who came in a car. Nihal Harischandra (43) alias Bappa and Madhuwantha Silva (33) alias Chappa have been injured in the shooting.

Investigations have revealed that the shooting was done by an associate of Heenatiyana Mahesh.

Police have received information that this criminal has been conducting extortion collections and drug trafficking as per the contracts given by Mahesh from Dubai. However, it is said that this person had not made payments to Mahesh properly. Mahesh had later tried to kill him and the attack on Mahesh’s uncle it is said had been carried out as retaliation to those attempts.

The two who were injured in the shooting are receiving treatment at the Gampaha hospital.
