Two soldiers who sold T56 weapon to businessman arrested

The Criminal Investigation Department, which conducted an investigation into the disappearance   of a T-56 weapon with 30 ammunition from the 58th Army Headquarters, arrested two Army soldiers and a businessman along with the firearm and ammunition.

Two army soldiers residing in Katukaliyawa in Anuradhapura and Thellakumbure in Nakiadeniya and a 53-year-old businessman residing in Anuradhapura have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department have revealed that the two soldiers sold the firearm to the third suspect.

The Criminal Investigation Department stated that investigations are underway to find out why the businessman bought the firearm.
