Two who killed man over Facebook post arrested
The Dodangoda Police say that two who helped to killed a man based on an incident of posting an post on the Facebook saying that ‘drug trafficking is a headache for the village’ by breaking into a house in Dolelanda area with sharp weapons were arrested.
Along with the arrested suspects, a knife used in the murder and a car used to flee after the murder was taken into police custody. Police said that the deceased was a 37-year-old father of one residing in Dolelanda, Dodangoda.
Police said that when the deceased person was returning home from a party near his house last Monday (14) night, a local drug dealer and others broke into his house and hacked him with sharp weapons and fled.
Police said that the person who was killed was a member of the faction of Mathugama Shan, and the suspected drug dealer was also a former member of that faction. A senior Police officer said that a few days ago, when the murdered person came to the Dodangoda Police, the suspected drug dealer came with several others and beat him up on the road in front of the Police station.
The two arrested suspects are 29-year-old persons from Udumulla and Dawson Watta area The suspects are to be produced before the Kaluthara Magistrate’s Court.
