The Warakapola Police arrested two suspects who had kidnapped a garment worker and raped her at a guard house on an estate, 10 months after the crime was committed on Thursday (8).
This 19-year-old garment worker, a resident of Pindeniya, was abducted on August 7 last year when she had lost her way.
Two people who had come in a three-wheeler had tricked her by pretending to show her the way and taken her to a guard house on a plot of land in Ambepussa Wahawita area.
There the two of them had raped her and then taken her back to the road and abandoned her. The two suspects involved were arrested following an investigation based on a complaint made by the garment worker to the Warakapola Police.
These two suspects are aged 20 and 24. They are both residents of Ambepussa. One suspect is a car mechanic and the other is a three-wheeler driver.The two suspects were to be produced in court yesterday (9).
