Two-year grace period for TDL payment
The Government has decided to grant a two-year grace period for the payment of the Tourism Development Levy (TDL) without any penalty for hotels registered under the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority to support the recovery of the tourism industry in the wake of the present crisis and the pandemic.
Accordingly, these tourist hotels will be able to pay the outstanding TDL in 32 equal installments accumulated during the period from April 4, 2019 to December 31, 2021.
The proposal to grant grace period has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers by Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranathunga.
The Government has taken this decision among the fast recovery of the tourism industry despite the negative impacts triggered by the pandemic.
