Two youths rob woman of jewellery worth Rs. 200,000 after her bike runs out of fuel

Two youths robbed jewellery worth nearly Rs.200,000 from a woman in Yakalla yesterday whose motorbike had stopped on the wayside after running out of fuel.

The two youths on a motorbike who had come under the guise of helping her had robbed her of her gold necklace and a pendant worth around Rs.200,000.

“The robbery took place at a bend near the Niraviya Temple on the Galkulama Road in Yakalla,” Police said.

The 24-year-old woman from Sivalakulama, Aluthgama, was on her way to visit a relative in Mihintale when her motorbike ran out of petrol,”Police said. According to the Police, the woman had lodged a complaint. Thirappana Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspects.
