UDA to expedite approval for coast area tourism investments
The approval process for the tourism investments in the land area up to a distance of one kilometer from the coast all over the country will be expedited.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that the Urban Development Authority will implement this process through the One Stop Unit which has been started to provide information on potential areas for tourism investments.
The purpose of this is to promote tourism investment and boost tourism business.
The Minister further said that arrangements have been made to give approval within 10 to 21 days after submitting the relevant application for tourism investments. Sixteen institutions including the Ministry of Public Administration, Tourism Development Authority, Forest Conservation Department, Central Environment Authority, Coastal Conservation and Coastal Resource Management Department have been included in this online system.
Accordingly, it is expected to complete the approval of the basic plan in 10 days, the approval of a standard plan in 14 days, the approval of a draft in 21 days, and the renewal of a given approval in 10 days.
A land area of one kilometer from the coast around the country has been declared as an urban development area.
This unit is now accepting applications through an online system for approval of coastal tourism investments.
