UGC releases Z-score cut off marks in record time

University Grants Commission Chairman (UGC) Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge yesterday said that the UGC succeeded in releasing the Z-score cut off marks for 2022/23 academic year within a very short span of time and the qualified students will be placed in the respective faculties from January next year.

Professor Amaratunge said that the UGC has sent a SMS to every student who submitted applications, whether they have been selected or not.

He said that the SMS has been sent to the number provided by the respective student. “The students who did not get a sms can contact the UGC on the hotline 1919,” he said.

Speaking at a press conference at the Government Information Department yesterday, Professor Amaratunge said the results of the 2022 Advanced Level Examination were released on September 3 and the handbook was made available the following day for the students to submit their applications to the UGC.

The students were given two weeks’ time to submit applications to the UGC and another two weeks were granted for them to change their university and the study course of their choice too, he said.

UGC Deputy Secretary Shalika Ariyarathna said the students can send a SMS to 1919 by typing UGC (space) to ascertain whether they have actually got selected for the university. She said that students have been given 30 days from yesterday to make appeals and the registration process for universities will start within the next few weeks under the first phase.
