UK Head of Foreign Office here on official visit

Head of the South Asia Regional Department of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of UK, Lesley Craig arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday (24), for a week-long official visit. Ms Craig previously held the position of Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.

Ms Craig held discussions with senior officials of the Foreign Ministry including Director General of the European Desk, Shobini Gunasekara. The discussions focused on UK-Sri Lanka cooperation and follow up from last month’s Strategic Dialogue. This meeting also coincided with International Day for Women in Diplomacy.

She later met a group of activists and experts to discuss gender equality, women’s participation in politics, and the contributions that Sri Lankan women make to public policy, governance and human rights.
