UK market holds significant importance to Sri Lanka Tourism – Eksath Wijeratne

Browns Hotels’ participation at the annual WTM in London serves as a launchpad to woo more tourists to Sri Lanka.

“Our main focus in participating at the WTM is to connect with travel partners who are interested in mutual benefits for the development of the Sri Lankan hospitality sector,” Chief Executive Officer, Browns Hotels & Resorts, Eksath Wijeratne stated.

“UK has always been one of Sri Lanka’s top revenue-generating destinations due to its strong currency. Additionally, the UK was one of the first markets to bounce back immediately after the C-19 pandemic.”

“Even today the UK ranks as the third most important sourcing destination for Sri Lanka, following India and Russia. Hence the UK market holds significant importance to Sri Lanka Tourism.”

“The WTM not only brings travel partners from the UK but also from across Europe providing us with more opportunities to showcase our strategically located hotel properties both to our existing and potential travel partners. “I’m confident that our marketing campaign will enhance the exposure to our properties and contribute to increased arrivals.”

He further stated that the current winter season is looking promising for their hotels and anticipated that all properties would end the season averaging over 80% occupancy. “However, a dip in the east coast hotels segment is expected, which is currently in its off season. Our main focus is to connect tourists interested in visiting Sri Lanka and offering them a total hassle free solution,” he concluded.
