All political parties and groups should come to a National Agreement in order to make Sri Lanka economically strong at this critical juncture, said United National Party (UNP) Chairman MP Vajira Abeywardena.

Speaking to the media at the Sirikotha Party Headquarters in Pitakotte yesterday,

he said the failure to achieve that National Agreement could lead to disaster.

It is also the intention of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to achieve such an agreement through the Budget 2023.“We have achieved so many things together in the past and we will lose as a nation if we remain divided,” he stressed.“Throughout the past 75 years, we have lost many national leaders. We should join hands to change this trend. This is why the President is inviting everyone to come to a National Agreement,” MP Abeywardena said.

Meanwhile, he said Budget 2023 will receive over 120 votes in favour of it at the vote of the Third Reading and this number can be increased to 140 or above if the voting is a secret one.
