Vageesha the crack third row forward from Isipathana

Vageesha Weerasinghe played school rugby as a crack third row forward for his alma mater Isipathana College in the inter school rugby championship,Then he went on to represent the Sri Lanka national under 20 fifteen a side rugby team in the Junior Rugby Asiad as well and also represented Sri Lanka senior national team with distinction

He then represented CR & FC and presently turns out for Police Sports Club in the inter club rugby tournament as an exceptional third row forward. Speaking to Daily News Vageesha said “I used to watch lot of rugby matches since I was a small boy and by watching those games I wanted to become one of the greatest rugby players in Sri Lanka one day.”.

“I used to be a very mischievous child when I was small, so I always wanted to play a a tough game That eventually made me to choose rugby. Hence I thought it was the most suitable game for me”.

“Throughout my entire life my top priority is always my family and rugby”.

“I always watch movies, rugby matches and listen to good music, whenever I have a leisure time and my favourite movie is Invictus”. “ Nuwara Eliya is my favourite destination”.

“My favourite rugby player is Micheal Hooper- the flanker and Captain of the Australia national rugby team”.

“My greatest accomplishment was Isipathana College becoming unbeaten double champs in 2016, as well as myself becoming the best player of the year. Becoming a proud member of the cup runner up Police rugby team in 2019/20 Dialog Inter-Club league Rugby tournament and also being a member of the National Men’s Rugby Squad 2020.”.

“In life I don’t compare myself to any other person, but I always like to be me and I always believe in what I’m doing”. “I’ve got a lot of compliments from my fans, saying that I’m the player who made a difference in the pack with my body structure”.
