Vehicles & properties of three king pin drug traffickers seized in parallel crackdown with Yukthiya

During the operations conducted in conjunction with the special operation ‘Yukthiya’ within the 24 hours ending 12:30 a.m. on January 08, many vehicles and properties belonging to main drug traffickers Kudu Roshan, Kavidu Maduranga and Hettiarachchige Sriyani, have been seized by the Illegal Assets or Property Investigation Division.

The Ministry of Public Security stated that vehicles and property valued at Rs. 106 million belonging to the three suspected narcotics dealers have also been seized during another operation conducted parallel to the main ‘Yukthiya’ special operation.

Five vehicles worth Rs. 61 million, and assets and lands worth Rs. 45 million belonging to the suspected narcotics dealers were seized during the special operation.

Police STF officers seized one Toyota Land Cruiser Prado valued at Rs. 33 million, one Toyota KDH van valued at Rs. 13 million, one Toyota CHR Car with a value of Rs. 7.6 million, one Toyota Aqua Car worth Rs. 6.4 million and one Bajaj Three-wheeler valued at Rs. 1 million.

Properties seized during the parallel operation to ‘Yukthiya’ were one 7.5 perches land in Thalagala with a value of Rs. 1.5 million, a 5 perches land in Malabe valued at Rs. 4.5 million, a two-storey house on a 12.5 perch land at Rajawatte Terrace in Kotugoda, Ja Ela with a value of Rs. 24 million and a plot of land at Niwandana south in Ja Ela (Land area yet to be estimated) with a value of Rs. 15 million.

Meanwhile, Another 955 suspects have been arrested during the countrywide special operation ‘Yukthiya’ that was carried out by Police Special Task Force (STF) during the 24 hours from 12:30 a.m. on January 07, to 12:30 a.m. on January 08.

Out of the total of 955 suspects that were arrested, further investigations are being conducted on 39 suspects based on detention orders.

Also, 31 drug addicts have been referred to rehabilitation centres and another 51 suspects who were on the list of registered suspects of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Special Bureau were arrested in this operation.

The Police seized 435 grams of heroin, 261 grams of ICE, 02 Kg and 946 grams of cannabis, 58,234 cannabis plants, 12 cannabis cigars, 03 Kg and 903 grams of Mawa, 448 grams of Tul, 118 grams of Ash, 41 grams of Madana Modaka and 1,403 narcotic pills.
