Ven. Devananda Thera appointed Chief Sanganayake of Western and Central States of US
Chief Incumbent of Lankaramaya, Los Angeles Indiana Buddhist Temple, Maitreya Meditation Center Ohio and Kotte Raja Maha Viharadhikari, Ven. Thalangama Devananda Thera will be appointed as Chief Sanganayake of the Western and Central States of the United States on Sunday (17) at 3.00 p.m. at the Siri Mangala Uposathagaraya of Kotte Raja Maha Viharaya.
Due to the religious mission of the United States of America and for the people of the whole world, Kotte Vihara Sangha Sabha is offering this Sanghanayake position to Ven. Thalangama Devananda Thera.
US Ambassador in Sri Lanka Julie Chung will present the Vijinipatha to the Nayaka Thera.
Ven. Talangama Devananda Thera, is the head of Three Buddhist religious places in the United States and has given his visionary leadership to promote meditation in the country as well as guiding those who seek Dharma as a leading figure in the 21st Century.
Nayaka Thera who is the pioneer of the world’s first open-air Buddhist museum, has built this museum in an area of about ten acres of land in America. Buddha statues inspired by Sri Lanka brought from Indonesia, a chaitanya made of black stone, and special places and occasions associated with Buddhism, as well as statues of people have been placed in this place.
Under the advice of Ven. Aluthnuwara Anuruddha Nayaka Thera, Ven. Talangama Thera has also worked on the development of the temple by bringing Buddha statues from Indonesia to Kotte Rajamaha Vihara.
Devotees from many countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Korea, Thailand, Burma, England, Japan, Canada, America expressed their gratitude and blessings to Ven. Thalangama Devananda Thera for his dedication.
