Veteran journalist and author Anula de Silva passes away
Veteran journalist and author Anula de Silva passed away on Saturday. Born on January 28, 1941, in Ambalangoda, she was 82 years old.
De Silva, who has written over 125 books during a journalistic career spanning six decades worked as a writer, translator and journalist.
A graduate of the University of Peradeniya, she joined Lake House after a short stint as a teacher. She served as the Chief Editor of ‘Mihira’ and ‘Tharunee’ newspapers for many years.
After leaving Lake House, she served as Chief Editor of women’s newspapers and magazines such as ‘Sirikatha’, ‘Vanitha Vitthi’ and also several children’s newspapers.
The funeral will be held today (14) at 4.00 pm at the General Cemetery, Borella.
