Vidyartha old boys rugby champions

Vidyartha old boys rugby side clinched a thrilling final to win the cup championship in theTrinity College class 99 sevens old boys rugby tournament played on Saturday at the Bogambara Stadium. In the finals they beat D.S. Senanayake old boys by 31 points to 7, and in the semi finals beat Dharmaraja 24-0 and in Quarterfinals beat St. Josephs10-7. The Bowl championship was won by Kingswood and the runner-up were St. Sylvester’s, and the plate by Wesley and St. Josephs were the runner-up In the exhibition club game which was an interesting one where Kandy SC and CR & FC dished out a good display and ended with a 20 all score with four tires each . In this tournament twelve teams took part they were Pool “A” Isipathana, St.Peters, and Wesley. Pool “B” D.S. Senanayake, Trinity, St. Sylvester’s Pool “C” St. Anthony’s, Royal + S. Thomas’. Vidyartha, Pool “D” Dharmaraja, St. Josephs’’, Kingswood.

Trinity – S. Thomas football encounter

The12th Annual Trinity College vs S. Thomas College Football encounter was played on Saturday at the Digana grounds.In this year’s tournament Thomians gave a good display to win the under 14 “A” 3-0, Under 14 “B” Thomians won 5-0, Under 16“B” was a nil all draw under 16 “A” Thomians won 1-0 and in the senior game Thomians won1-0, where M. Mukthar netted a superb goal.

The matches were refereed by P.D.C.Ridmal, D.G.D.K. Premarthne, K.W.M.P.C. Wijeratne and A. Asker.
