Vihas, Malsha restrict West Indies U-19 to 127

Off-spinner Vihas Thewmika took 5 for 43 while leg spinner Malsha Tharupathi had 3 for 16 as the West Indies were bowled out for 127 in the first innings while Sri Lanka Under 19 made bold a reply by making 191 for 4 wickets by the close on the first day of the second four-day game commenced at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium yesterday.

West Indies Youth team won the toss but they couldn’t play against the Lankan spin duo Vihas and Malsha who did most of the damage. Jordan Johnson was the only successful hitter scoring 52 in 49 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Sri Lanka Under 19 openers could not get a better start to their innings as skipper Sineth Jayawardena was out for a duck facing only 8 balls and Ravishan de Silva was 43 in 77 balls with 5 fours and a six. Rusanda Gamage playing his first match in the series scored 58 in 52 balls with 10 fours while Dinura Kalupahana (23) and Sharujan Shanmuganathan (21) remained at the close.

Sri Lanka lead by 64 runs with six wickets in hand.
