Visakha, Joes rise to top on second day
Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, are the top teams after the second day at the Milo 47th Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Championship, which is now in progress at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex in Colombo.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph’s College, coached by Swimming Coach Ruwan Manawadu, once again dominated this meet as they obtained 185 points to take the lead in the Boys’ overall category, while their arch-rivals St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, are in second place with 143 points. The third-placed Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, have obtained 89 points after the second day’s play.
Vinul Senanayake of Lyceum International, Nugegoda, finished first in the Boys’ Under 16 50-metre Breaststroke clocking 32.76 seconds, but failed to seize a new meet record. The previous record was set by Peterite Pramesh Cooray in 2017, with a time of 32.73 seconds.
The meet will continue until December 11th.
