In a recent National Schools Games Tennis Championship, Visakha Vidyalaya made a smashing victory, emerging as champions in both the Under-20 and Under-17 tennis categories. The competition, held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association course last week, was a thrilling event. However, the Boys’ finals had to be postponed due to bad weather, with organizers assuring that they would take place soon.

In the Under-20 finals, Visakha Vidyalaya triumphed by beating Ladies’ College with a close score of 2-1, securing the championship title. Their journey to victory included a strong performance in the semi-finals, where they defeated Methodist College with a score of 2-0. Ladies’ College also put up an impressive performance to reach the finals by winning 2-0 against Bishop’s College. In the battle for third place, Methodist College secured their spot with a 2-1 win against Bishopians.

The success story extended to the Under-17 category, where Visakha Vidyalaya once again claimed the championship. They defeated Newstead Girls College with a score of 2-0 in the finals, marking their second title win. Their journey included a 2-0 victory against Bishop’s College in the semi-finals.

Newstead Girls College made it to the finals by decisively defeating Musaeus College with a score of 2-0. In another notable match, Musaeus College clinched the third-place position by winning against Bishop’s College.
