Captain of the first eleven Cricket team 2022/23, under 13, 15 and 17 School Cricket Captain, Right hand middle order bat and Left arm Leg spinner and Safe fielder in any position under 15 Kalutara District Captain and Western Province South Outer Prima Cup Captain and under 15 All Island Development Squad member, All Island Mobitel Division Two Best Bowler 2021 Don Vishva Lahiru has brought honour and immense glory to his alma mater Sri Sumangala College Panadura with his deeds in the field of Cricket.


Vishva Lahiru

Vishva who hails from Panadura was born on November 15 2004 and admitted to the grade one of his present school in 2010 . From his young days he was keen on cricket and noticing this his parents Janitha Prasanga Kumara and Swama LakshmiJ ayathilleke handed over their son to Jayathu Nilaweera the Coach of the School Cricket Academy

He was selected to the under 13 team in 2013 and he claimed 50 wickets with two ten wicket hauls and three five wicket hauls and in his second year playing in division one he took 23 scalps and in his third year 20 wickets and in his fourth year 18 wickets and in 2017 captaining the team captured 48 wickets with four five wicket hauls.

His first year in the under 15 was in 2018 and in his first year itself he bagged 33 wickets and in his final year captaining the team claimed 36 wickets with two five wicket hauls and went on to lead the Kalutara District and Western Province South Outer Teams in the Prima Cup and with all these performances under his belt he was selected for the All Island under 15 Development Squad which consisted of 30 players and his Coach was Sanjaya Devapriya.Vishva’s first year in the under 17 there was no Cricket due to Coronavirus and in 2021 he captained the team and claimed 26 wickets

His first year in the first eleven team was in 2017 and in 2019 he played in nine matches excluding the Big Match with their arch rivals Moratu Vidyalaya and captured 44 wickets with two ten wicket hauls and two five wicket hauls. He played for the Big Match and the One Dayer and he earned the Best Bowlers and the Man of the Match Awards and in 2020 he claimed 36 scalps with three five wicket hauls and played for the Big Match and the Limited Over match. In 2021 due to Corona Virus there was only a one day tournament and he took 22 Wickets in the One Day Tournament and he was adjudged as the All Island Division Two Best Bowler. In 2022 One Day Tournament he scored 215 runs with a century and took 18 wickets and held ten catches and played in the Big Match and the One Dayer and he won the Man of the Match Award in the Big Match and in this season so far playing in eight matches Sumangalians have reached the Quarter Finals under his leadership and he scored 204 runs with a fifty and bagged 14 wickets and his Coach is Kelum Femando

Last year he represented Panadura Sports Club in the all island under 23 tournament. During his school career spanning twelve years so far he has claimed 374 wickets and perhaps this may be a record in Sumangalians history of cricket.
