North Central Province, Junior Nationals All Island Rank One under Nine, Western Province and under 13 National Badminton Champion and School Badminton Captain and Athlete Vishwanie Wanniarachchi Liyanage has brought honour and immense glory to her alma mater Lyceum International School Nugegoda with her deeds in the Badminton and Athletic fields.

Vishwanie Liyanage outstanding shuttler and athleteVishwanie was born on 5th February 2009 and initially admitted to Alethea International School in 2015 and noticing her talents for Badminton her Parents JayawickramaWanniarachchi and Ganga Siriwardene admitted their daughter to Tweety Bird Badminton Academy to enhance her skills and she came under Nalin Fernando. In 2017 she was drafted to Lyceum International School and when she was in grade three she participated for the under nine Summer Season Tournament Nuwara Eliya and came up to Quarter Finals at her first attempt itself and she was ranked sixth in the All Island under nine when she was in grade four in 2018 she became the under Eleven All Island Champion North Central Province under eleven and at Junior Nationals too she was the Champion and in the Inter International Tournament representing the under 14 team she was adjudged as the All Island Rank One. Then in 2019 she was the Junior Nationals, North Central Province Defense Tournament and a tournament was organized by Singhalese Sports Club and she won the under eleven age group and they be came the Sri Lanka Schools ‘A’ Division Badminton Champions and she captained the team and in the under 13 Western Province Open Badminton Tournament she was the champion.

Then in 2020/21 Summer Season Nuwara Eliya Tournament she was the under 15 Runner up and finally she was the Girls Singles under 13 Champion at the 69th National Badminton Championship and her Head Coach is Charaka Bambarendage and the other two are Kamal Gamlath and Gayan Perera and her School Coach is Diluka Karunarathne and their fitness coach is Mothilal Jayathilake.

When she was in Alethea International participating in the under ten age group she became Champion by sweeping the board in 60 and 100 metres and in Long Jump and at the ISAC Athletic Championship she came up to the Best Eight and in 2020/21 ISAC Relay Championship her team won the 4×50 metres relay event and her team mates were Nethmi,Sithuki and Limandi and their Coach is Jayashantha Fernando and teacher are Kumari Hapugala and Mrs. Tania and her Principal Mrs. Dulka Mendis and Mrs. Kumari Grero are always supportive of her sports career.
