Warner and Marsh centuries propel Australia to 367/9

Australian openers, David Warner (163) and Mitchell Marsh (121), both hit centuries, contributing to a 259-run partnership that helped Australia reach a total of 367 for 9 wickets in their Cricket World Cup fixture played at MA Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bangalore yesterday.

Warner’s innings of 163 in 124 balls, was studded with 14 fours and 9 sixes, while Marsh celebrating his birthday, delivered a splendid knock of 121 runs from 108 balls including 10 fours and 9 sixes. However, the rest of the Australian lineup struggled to make a significant impact, losing 9 wickets while a mere 108 runs.

Speedstar Shaheen Afridi led Pakistan’s bowling attack with an impressive 5-wicket haul for 54 in his 10 overs, narrowly missing a hat-trick in the final over. Haris Rauf provided valuable support, picking up 3 for 83 in his 8-over spell. Pakistan’s bowlers made a strong comeback in the last five overs, claiming 5 wickets and conceding just 37 runs. Australia set a target of 368 with a run rate of 7.34. Pakistan was slated to commence their innings under evening lights.
