‘Wattala Sudda’, another arrested for vehicle thefts

Thalangama Police said that they arrested two persons including ‘Wattala Sudda’ who had stolen and sold three-wheelers and motorcycles parked on the road in many police areas, including Thalangama.

Police also found a live grenade made in this country in the possession of the main suspect, Wattala Sudda.

During the questioning of the two suspects, four three-wheelers, four motorcycles and many spare parts of vehicles worth more than Rs. 5 million were taken into police custody.

Wattala Sudda was arrested by Thalangama Police while they were checking vehicles at a roadblock. During interrogation, it was revealed that the motorcycle he was riding was also stolen from the Katunayake area.

The police said that it was revealed that the suspect, along with another person, had stolen cars and motorcycles that had been parked on the road in the police domains of Thalangama, Malabe, Katunayake, Maradana, Welikada and Kottawa.

According to the information revealed during the questioning of the suspects, the police said that they found parts of four cars and four motorcycles that had been stolen and sold in parts.

A senior police officer said that Wattala Sudda has five warrants issued for vehicle theft cases in the Aluthkade No. 5 court alone.

The two suspects are to be produced before the court.
