The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts today (June 6).
Fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm is expected in some locations within the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are likely at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Other parts of the island can expect fairly strong winds of 30–40 kmph.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers. (Newswire)
