Weather : Showers after 2 pm in several areas

Showers or thundershowers are expected at several locations in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Puttalam districts after 2 p.m., according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fair weather is forecast for the rest of the island.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few locations in sea areas extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Winds will be southwesterly or variable at speeds of 20 to 30 km/h.

Sea conditions around the island are expected to be slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers.

The public is advised to take precautions to minimize potential damage from localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers. (Newswire)
