A rousing game is on the cards when two equally good teams Isipathana College and Wesley College clash in a vital Inter-Schools Under-20 ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament fixture at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo today.
Both teams are unbeaten after having cleared their first hurdle of the tournament quite convincingly last week and a fantastic contest is on the cards as they will scrum down after a lapse of two years.
In fact, the two teams last met during the 2019 season and on that occasion the Wesleyites emerged victorious 29-18 following an enthralling game of rugby played at the same venue.
Thereafter, Wesley went on to finish in fourth place of the Cup Championship points table while Isipathana had to settle with sixth place in the final overall tally.
This time the Wesleyites seem to have the talent and the potential to beat Isipathana once again as they provided a warning to their opponents by winning the first game of the season in the most spectacular manner.
They completely dominated the match to record a comprehensive 38-7 win over Vidyartha while running down as many as six tries during a dazzling performance.
In contrast, Isipathana will look to produce an improved performance after they struggled to beat a spirited Science College outfit 18-9 in their opening fixture of the tournament last week.
