Wife kills drunk husband in Hettipola

An incident where a wife had stabbed to death her husband during a dispute was reported from Hettipola on Wednesday night.

Police said the husband had come home drunk because of an extramarital affair his wife was alleged to be having and asked her about it and during the dispute which had broken out, the wife had stabbed the husband and killed him.

The victim has been identified as W.M.Fernando (48), a labourer and his wife 41, has been arrested in connection with the murder police said that the murdered man was a father of three.

According to the police, his eldest daughter is married and the second daughter is about to sit for the GCE ordinary level examination this year. The youngest child in the family is a 5-year-old boy.

When her husband had returned home at around 8.00 pm on Wednesday, his wife had been asleep, with the youngest child. Investigations have revealed that while he was eating, he had woken up his sleeping wife and asked her about the extramarital affair she was involved in.

The eldest daughter of this family had told the police that the father has been drinking alcohol for a long time and had been causing trouble at home. She had also told the police that the situation had got aggravated due to an extra marital affair her mother was engaged in.
