Mirigama Police said that a wildlife site assistant of the Department of Wildlife Conservation was arrested April 21 for allegedly possessing a Valampuri.
The 43-year-old suspect was taken into custody near the government farm in Ambepussa in the Mirigama Police Division. He was a resident of Loluwagoda, Godakalana.
The suspect was arrested subsequent to a search conducted by the night mobile patrol team of the Mirigama Police Station the officers of the Welisara Navy Camp on information received that a person was in possession of a priceless Valampuri.
Investigations are underway to find out how the Valampuri came into the possession of the officer of the Wildlife Conservation Department. The Mirigama police are investigations.
