Woman killed in shootout

A woman was killed in a shooting incident this morning (15), police said.

 

The shooting took place in the Senapilavu area in the Nedunkerni police division. The victim is a 33-year-old woman.

 

It is reported that the woman was traveling on a motorcycle when her brother-in-law who had been hiding in the jungle had shot her.

 

Police suspect that the shooting had taken place as a result of a family dispute and the suspect has now fled the area.

 

The body of the victim is currently placed at the Vavuniya Hospital pending the postmortem examination. 

 

Further investigations are being carried out by the Nedunkerni Police.
