Woman remanded for biting WPCs

Balapitiya Acting Magistrate Samantha Abrew on Saturday ordered that 26- year-old-woman who was arrested by the Ambalangoda Police for clashing with the police in the Ambalangoda Police station and biting the chest area of two female Police officers while causing injuries, be remanded until October 30, 2023. Thus, the woman resident of Walawwatta Road, Maharagama was remanded. During questioning, she said that she is a law student. She has also argued with Police officers and presented legal clauses.Ambalangoda Police said the suspect was brought to Court under charges of criminal coercion, obstruction of duty and riotous behaviour. Last Friday (20) evening, two youths travelling on a motorcycle were arrested by the Traffic section of the Ambalangoda Police for drunk riding.

The suspect had come to the Police station to inquire about the arrest. Police investigations have also confirmed that she is the girlfriend of the first suspect in the charge of drunk riding.

The Ambalangoda Police say that the suspect was insulting Police officers and was behaving in a riotous manner inside the station and when the two female officers arrested her she had bitten them.
