WTF reps meet Batticaloa Bishop

Representatives of the World Tamil Forum (WTF) team headed by WTF Director Dr. Elias Jeyarajah , Shantini Jeyaraja , Raj Thavaretnasingam and Veluppillai Kuganenthiran met Batticaloa Bishop Rt, Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah and explained to him the agreement that they have reached ‘Shangha For Better Sri Lanka’ on Wednesday (13).

After their ordinance with the Batticaloa Civil Society, intellectuals, leading citizens met them at Charles Hall and exchanged views and suggestions. The meeting was presided over by Batticaloa Civil Society President S. Mamangaraja.

Their visit was a sequel to the Himalaya Declaration of April 27, 2023 at Nagarkot, Nepal where “A Sri Lanka where every individual can live peacefully with dignity, trust and no fear or suspicion, enjoying equal rights” was declared in which a six point statement was included. This was a basis for good will and reconciliation among the different communities.

Before meeting the Bishop they visited Kattankudy and met the Muslim religious leaders.
