Yala National Park Zones 1 and 2 to close from Sept. 14

It has been decided to close Zones 01 and 02 of Yala National Park from September 14, taking into account the challenges faced by animals and wildlife officers due to the prevailing high temperatures.

Additional Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Manjula Amararatna, explained that the extreme heat has created difficult conditions for both wildlife and staff. 

He noted that the large number of tourist jeeps travelling inside the park has further compounded the situation, making it harder for officers to carry out their duties effectively. (Newswire)
