Zones 1 and 2 of the Yala National Park, which were temporarily closed due to severe dry weather conditions, will reopen to tourists from October 16, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has announced.

The two zones were temporarily closed on September 14 as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of wild animals amid the prevailing dry weather conditions.

The closure also allowed authorities to carry out necessary repairs and maintenance work on the park’s road network.

Meanwhile, the Department of Wildlife Conservation stated that tourists will be able to make reservations for wildlife bungalows and campsites within the park from November 1, following its reopening. (Newswire)
