Fifth year coloursman. Left hand middle order bat and Left arm leg spinner, school under 13, 15, 17 and under 19 captain, 2018 and 19 up and coming cricketer of the year at the School Colours Nite, and under 23 Premier player Yasiru Yugath Jasinghe has brought honour and glory to his alma mater Lumbini Vidyalaya Colombo with his deeds in the cricket field.

Yasiru who hails from Kottawa Pannipitiya was bom on May 7 2004 and initially admitted to Ananda Vidyalaya Kottawa and in 2012 he commenced under 13 cricket and came under Sumith Ranasinghe and played in division three and in 2016 his Parents drafted their son to Lumbini Vidyalaya in the hope of giving their son a sound education and to improve his cricketing skills and same year playing in the under 13 he took 31 wickets with two ten wicket hauls and a five wicket haul and in his second year he claimed 41 wickets and scored 220 runs with two fifties and took a match bag of 14 wickets against Sri Jayawardenepura Vidyalaya Kotte and captaining in his final year he scored 280 runs with two fifties and captured 26 wickets with two five wicket hauls. As an under 13 player he made two tours with Sumith Amraasinghe’s Cricket Academy to Bangalore India and it was a fine exposure for him.

In his first year in the under 15 he scored 230 runs with three fifties and bagged , 17 scalps and in his second year captaining the team he collected 380 runs with a century and two fifties and captured 33 wickets with two five wicket hauls and one ten wicket haul and with these performances under his belt he was selected for Colombo South team for the Prima Cup and played for the Provincial Tournament and carried away the Best Bowlers Award.

His first eleven first year was in 2018/19 and played in seven matches and his Coaches were Dinesh Weerasinghe, Lalanka Rajapaksha and Nishara de Soyza and in 2019/20 he scored 380 runs with two fifties and claimed 43 wickets with one ten wicket haul and three five wicket hauls and in 2020 there was only a one day tournament and he got 150 runs and in 2020/21 one day tournament he bagged eleven scalps and scored 160 runs and same year he represented the Provincial under 19 Youth Tournament for Colombo team and they emerged champions.

Last year in the one day tournament he took 13 wickets and scored 220 runs with a fifty and so far this year they have played in three traditional matches and in the Gurukula match he took six wickets.

He carried away the up and coming cricketer of the year awards in 2018 and 2019 at the Colours Nite. He is captaining the Lumbini first eleven team in the current season and his MIC’s are D. M. Rajapaksa and Chalina Jayasekera and the Principal M.S.K. Gunatilleke is very supportive.
