Younger sibling kills heroin addicted elder brother

A 33-year-old heroin addict was, Tuesday (29), stabbed to death in his neck while asleep, by his 28-year-old younger brother.

Police investigations revealed that the deceased was a heroin addict who often assaulted his mother, demanding money for his destructive habit. The frequent assaults on the mother became an unbearable occurrence to the younger brother who killed the elder brother by stabbing his neck with a knife on Tuesday (29), when the elder brother again tried to assault their mother while intoxicated.

After killing his brother, the younger brother surrendered to the Sooriyawewa Police.

The Magisterial inquiry into the incident was conducted yesterday (30) morning by Hambantota Magistrate and Additional District Judge Oshada Migara Maharachchi, who directed the Sooriyawewa Police OIC to hand over the body of the deceased to the Hambantota General Hospital for an autopsy and submit the report to Court.
