Youth shot dead in Keselwatte

The Police say that a person who is said to be related to the gang of underworld figure Keselwatte Dhanuka, who is currently held in an Indian prison, was shot dead at Matis Lane, Keselwatte yesterday evening (30).

A 20-year-old person named K.Dilshan aka Kavi, a resident of Keselwatta has been shot.

A senior police officer said that there is information that he is not directly related to Dhanuka although he associated Dhanuka’s henchmen.

Police said the shooting took place in a hotel behind the Keselwatte police station and that the shooting was carried out by two who came on a motorcycle.

CCTV footage shows a person on a motorcycle entering the hotel and shooting him, evidently knowing that this person was staying in the hotel. Police said that despite associating Dhanuka’s goons, no information has been revealed that the assassinated person was involved in major crimes. Police suspect that a hidden crime is behind this murder.
