Youth’s ear bitten off in clash
Thebuwana Police are conducting investigations regarding an incident in which the right ear of a 29-year-old youth was bitten off till it separated during a clash, in the Begamuwa area, Kalutara.
The youth is a resident of Yatawara Junction, Begamuwa, named Lokukankanamge Don Shiran Vimukthi Kumara.
Investigations have been launched based on a complaint made by his maternal grandmother Hiriadeniyage Kalyanawathi (71).
She stated in her complaint to the Police that the youth is her elder daughter’s son and she had brought him up since he was a child. He had left for his friend Rukshan’s house at around 8.30 am on the day of the incident.
It was also mentioned in the complaint that when her grandson had called her younger daughter at around 6.30 pm and said that his friend was hitting him, she and her two daughters had gone there. They found her grandson holding the ear and bleeding.
She has further said in her complaint to the Police that she had taken the grandson to the Galpatha Hospital from where he had been taken to the Horana Hospital and later to the Nagoda Hospital and then transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.
She had stated to the Police that her grandson had given her the piece of the ear that had been bitten and his mobile phone, and that she could not obtain more details from him because he kept losing consciousness from time to time.
Thebuwana OIC Inspector J.M. Rajaratne and Criminal Investigation Division OIC Inspector Dissanayake are conducting further investigations into this matter.
