Social Activist Sepal Amarasinghe who was in remand for making defamatory comments regarding the Sacred Tooth Relic, was ordered to be
remanded till February 14 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday.
Attorney Dharshana Kuruppu appearing for the suspect stressed that his client is ready to appologize from the buddhist monks and public buddhist community in all over the world regarding the disrespectful comments made by his client.
The Counsel Kuruppu further stated that he also sent letters to three chapters of the Mahanayake Theras regarding the incident.
The Criminal Investigations Department requested the Magistrate to issue an order directing the Government Analyst’s Department to submit a report pertaining to the voice samples of the suspect.
Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered that the suspect be produced before the Government Analyst’s Department on February 10.
