Zaharan’s brother-in-law further remanded

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandima Liyanage yesterday ordered that brother-in-law of National Thowheed Jama’ath leader Zaharan Hasheem be remanded until further instructions are recieved from the Attorney General.

The Terrorist Investigation Division had told the Magistrate that the suspect had also participated in extremist lectures and weapons training programmes.

The TID stated that it has been further revealed that the suspect had given lectures and training to over 35 women.

While the suspect was being held at the Polonnaruwa Prison, he was taken to the Terrorism Investigation Unit on June 26 under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and was produced before Court yesterday after being detained on a Detention Order.
