Sean Williams struck his third century of the tournament and second in-a-row to steer Zimbabwe to a tense 14-run victory over Oman in their ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Super Six opening match played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe yesterday.
The 36-year-old veteran left-hander scored an 81-ball hundred and went on to smash 142 with the help of three sixes and 14 boundaries as the home side amassed 332 for seven after they were put into bat.
In reply, Zimbabwe were given a scare by Oman opener Kashyap Prajapati, who hammered a 93-ball century inclusive of one six and 12 boundaries followed by a late charge from Mohammad Nadeem.
However, after Prajapati departed in the 35th over, the Oman innings lost its momentum and they eventually ended up at 318 for nine wickets.
