The ticket prices to enter the Zoological Gardens and Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage coming under the National Zoological Gardens Department have been increased for local tourists with effect from Monday, the Department said.
Issuing a press note, the Department said the entry fare to Dehiwala Zoo, Pinnawala Zoo, and Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage for local adults has been increased to Rs.200 from Rs.110 and for children from Rs.30 from Rs.50.
The entry fare for Ridiyagama Safari Park for local adults has been increased to Rs.500 from Rs.350, and the ticket price for local children to Rs.150 from Rs.120.
The decision was taken by the Treasury with the aim of providing proper maintenance and considering the rising animal maintenance costs and current foreign exchange crisis. The Zoo officials said the ticket fares were not revised since 2017.
