The two Sri Lankan women who were arrested and detained two days ago by Israeli and Jordanian border guards while they were attempting to illegally enter Israeli territory are to be sent back to Jordan, the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Israel said. The Sri Lankan Embassy in Tel Aviv stated that the two Sri Lankans had entered Israel illegally through the Jordanian border.

Sri Lankan Ambassador in Israel Nimal Bandara said that the identity of these two Sri Lankan women has been confirmed, one a 50 year old and the other a 44-year-old.

Ambassador Bandara also said that a decision had been taken to send the two detained Sri Lankan women back to Jordan.

Bandara further said that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel will be liaising and working together with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Jordan pertaining to the safety and future activities of both these women.

The two Sri Lankan women have reportedly entered Israeli territory illegally at a critical time when Israel is at war with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan woman who was living in Israel has reportedly been killed in the ongoing conflict, while another Sri Lankan woman has been reported missing, while another Sri Lankan man has been injured as a result of the ongoing conflict.

Sri Lankan representatives in Palestine reported yesterday that three Sri Lankan families living in Southern Gaza were presently safe.

The Sri Lankan representatives in Palestine further said that they have made requests from the International Red Cross to help evacuate these Sri Lankan families from Gaza.
