Lanka’s Envoy meets Myanmar Minister

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Myanmar Janaka Bandara met Myanmar’s Religious Affairs and Culture Minister U Tin Oolwin on Monday (16) at the Religious Affairs and Culture Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.

Ambassador Bandara and Minister OoLwin exchanged views on bilateral matters, particularly on the religious and cultural relationship between Sri Lanka and Myanmar which is based on Theravada Buddhism.

The ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Myanmar Government for the continued support extended to Sri Lanka, especially for conferring high religious titles including Agga Maha Panditha to Sri Lankan Bhikkus, who have dedicated their lives to the propagation and protection of Theravada Buddhism.

The Minister expressed his appreciation to Sri Lanka for its commitment to preserve Theravada Buddhism.
