Diana complains to Welikada Police, admitted to SJP Hospital

Tourism State Minister Diana Gamage has been admitted to the Sri Jayawardhanapura Hospital yesterday evening after being assaulted by an MP at the Parliamentary complex .

The State Minister made a complaint to the Welikada Police regarding the incident that took place at the parliamentary complex at around 1.30 p.m. yesterday.

This incident has taken place near the parliament library and State Minister Piyal Nishantha and MP Rasamanickam have also been in the vicinity. The State minister said that those who are angry after she raised voice against injustices have resorted to such menial manouevers to intimidate her. She stressed the importance of conducting a special investigation into this incident after scrutinizing the relevant CCTV footage and the Speaker should draw special attention towards this incident.

However she regretted as no female representation in the committee that was tasked to investigate into this incident.She said that the august assembly in the country has resorted to a level of attacking female legislators.
