Child dies, another injured in bike crash in Norochcholai

A five-year-old child died due to an accident that took place on Thursday (19) night in the 18 km mile post area on the Kalpitiya – Palaviya road in Norochcholai.

According to a Police statement the child had been travelling on a motorcycle with another man at the time when the accident occurred. Based on investigations carried out by the Norochcholai Police, it has been revealed that the motorcycle was travelling from Palaviya to Kalpitiya when it collided with a pickup truck. At the time the motorcyclist and child had been rushed and admitted to the Puttalam Teaching Hospital where while being treated the child had succumbed to injuries.The deceased child has been identified as a five-year-old resident of Pahalakudawa in Thalawila. The Norochcholai Police are carrying out investigations on the accident.
