Sri Lanka’s promising two shuttlers Viren Nettasinghe and Aashinsa Herath of Royal College will participate in the Infosys Foundation India International Challenge which will take place at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru, India, from October 24 to 29.This Academy is an elite Badminton Academy in India where so many top level Indian shuttlers have been produced.

This is going to be good opportunity for two young shuttlers while Viren a product from St Peter’s Bambalapitiya already

has shown his ability to come forward in this sport said Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) President Rohan de Silva. Actually Viren is the highest ranking player in Sri Lanka and we have recognised him as an Olympics prospect. He already took part at the recently concluded Asian Games in Chaina.

Nettasinghe, seeded 6, and Herath will be among the nine international players in the 64-player Men’s Singles main draw while two local shuttlers have to play with more experienced Indian shuttlers.

Viren Nettasinghe will take on India’s Aryaman Tandon in his first-round match in Bengaluru. Herath will meet India’s Shreyansh Jaiswal in his Round of 64 match. The tournament offers a total prize pool of US $25,000 and is one of the key international tournaments in the Indian badminton calendar.
