All SJB MPs will not lose their seats after verdict – Madduma Bandara

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary, MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara said there was no truth to statements by some that all SJB MPs will lose their seats after Diana Gamage’s Court verdict. He pointed out that the SJB had a party leader and a General Secretary and added the verdict on Gamage cannot have any impact on the SJB.

The SJB Secretary General said that Gamage had even deceived the SJB by producing a fake passport and a national identity card, and party will take legal action regarding the submission of false documents.

Madduma Bandara further said:“the final decision on the petition regarding Gamage’s citizenship has been given. Also, Diana Gamage had said later that other SJB MPs will also become invalid due to the decision. “No matter what Diana Gamage declares, if the party has a President and a General Secretary, the verdict against Gamage cannot have any influence on the SJB,” he said.

“Gamage has also deceived the SJB by producing a fake passport and a national identity card. A case will be filed in court against Diana Gamage regarding the submission of false documents. In the end, it was not SJB which got deceived, but Diana Gamage. Also, we suggest that all the benefits and allowances received during her tenure as a State Minister should be recovered by the government.

He also said previously too a case was filed in Court regarding the legitimacy of the SJB and at that time too, Court had ruled that the party was legal.
